Mission impact
Leadership and followership
Whole Airman concept
Performance-based outcomes (what you did and why it mattered)
EPBs are used for promotion boards, assignments, and career progression
EPBs still look like bullets, but they read more like plain-language impact statements
No more:
Excessive acronyms
Forced punctuation
“—-” dash chains
Cryptic shorthand
Yes to:
Clear sentences
Mission impact
Leadership and results
Each statement should answer three things clearly:
WHAT you did → HOW you did it → WHY it mattered
❌ Old EPR style
Led mx ops; repaired 12 comm lines—boosted mission readiness
✅ New EPB style
Led communication repairs on 12 critical lines, restoring full mission capability and preventing operational delays.
Mission Execution
Executed secure communications support for joint operations, enabling uninterrupted command and control during mission-critical periods.
Leadership
Led and mentored a five-member team, improving task efficiency and ensuring 100% on-time mission completion.
Initiative / Problem Solving
Identified and corrected system deficiencies, preventing repeat failures and increasing overall equipment reliability.
Training / Development
Completed advanced cyber defense training, expanding unit capability and directly supporting mission readiness.
Pro Tip
If your statement can apply to any Airman, it’s too generic.
If it clearly sounds like you, you’re doing it right.
